You deserve a staycation, a restful reset.

Experience the magic of Restorative Camp, an immersive, 4-night relaxation journey.

Night 1: Bliss out to Hannah’s relaxing voice and gentle adjustments. The 2-hour practice begins with 90 minutes of restorative yoga postures, all on your mat, supported by blankets, bolsters, and blocks. Hannah guides you through topics such as the Sleep Cycle, the Pancha Kosha, the Ayurvedic Doshas, Acupressure Points, the Relaxation Response, and the Musculoskeletal System. Postures are held for around 5 minutes each to allow your body’s relaxation response to take over and your tissues to restore into the shape you were meant to be. Practice concludes with a 30-minute Yoga Nidra, or Yogic Sleep. Night 1 is more instructional regarding posture set-up: if you can take a nap, you can do restorative yoga.

Night 2: Live music, Tom Yates. Become mesmerized by the flute melodies of Tom Yates. Your body finds the postures more familiar, and the Yoga Nidra is easier to drift into. 60-minute restorative practice followed by 30-minute Yoga Nidra.

Night 3: Live music, Ramin Roshandel. You’re beginning to find that perhaps you’re sleeping better. Maybe your body moves more freely. Restrictions you felt on the first night are beginning to melt away. 60-minute restorative practice and 30-minute Yoga Nidra.

Night 4: Live music, Ramin Roshandel. Your body is starting to feel like it’s in its natural state. Postures unimaginable on Night 1 are accessible and comfortable. You crave a restorative yoga practice and a home practice is on the horizon. 60-minute restorative practice and 30-minute Yoga Nidra.

Tom Yates, Flutes

Guest musician Tom Yates is a man of eclectic interests. Besides being a Certified Music Practitioner (TM) in flutes, he also plays electric bass for Swing till Noon, a jazz group. In other creative endeavors, he is a member of the Collage Artists of America, is currently finishing a drawing manual on cartooning, and occasionally performs as a magician. Tom has performed at all 13 previous Restorative Camps.

Guest musician Ramin Roshandel is a composer, setarist, and photographer. His composition has been described by Josh Levine as “Brutally Persian,” and his performance on the setar has been considered “Masterful” by Huntley Dent in Fanfare Magazine. His compositions have been performed by The JACK Quartet, University of Iowa Center for New Music Ensemble, among others. They have also been either featured or performed in Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS), NYC Electroacoustic Improvisation Summit, and Summer Institute for Contemporary Music Practice (SICPP).

Roshandel was the setar soloist of Jean-François Charles’ opera, Grant Wood in Paris, in its premiere. Ramin’s collaborative album with Jean-François Charles, Jamshid Jam, was nominated in the World Music and Crossover Productions categories of Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik (German Record Critics’ Award). Jamshid Jam has also received the Global Music Awards Silver Medal for Outstanding Achievement.

Ramin holds a PhD in Music Composition from the University of Iowa and is currently a visiting assistant professor of composition and music theory at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.

November will be Ramin’s first collaboration with Restorative Camp.
